January 1st was the most chill day. I woke up late, was lazy the whole day, and went for dinner at a Japanese place named Kuu with my mom’s friends then went shopping. Sunday = driving the whole day then dinner at this new mall that just opened. It is literally full of food. Good thing I was kinda full when I went there. I did so many things on Monday. Day well spent. I had lunch at this really good chicken and rice place in Old Town. It was worth the 45 mins drive. Hung out with some friends in the afternoon then met up with some people from Chapman for dinner at a Thai restaurant called Somtum Nua at Siam Soi 5. I haven’t been there for 4 years because it’s so crowded all the time but surprisingly there was no line today. They expanded the whole place. The food was, as usual, awesome. On the way to the BTS I saw people selling Krisky Kreme. Wtf. I know it’s good, but is it THAT good? I met up with my mom and went to a meeting and met a friend from LA. The people there were really nice.

Kuu’s yakisoba wrapped with an omelet.

Tuesday was spent torrenting and skyping. Then I had dinner at Akiyoshi, a Japanese Yakiniku restaurant near my house. My friend was leaving for LA on Thursday so it was kinda farewell. A lot of people went. We ordered so much that I decided to skip out on dessert. I met my best friends on Wednesday. We finally had time to catch up a bit, had lunch, and watched The Tourist. There was a twist in the ending, which had me a bit confused. After the movie I met with another friend and we went to buy some stuff I had to bring back to LA. Then I had dinner with a friend whom I haven’t talked to in so many years. It was nice talking to her for a few hours over dinner and dessert at this restaurant that just opened. The ramen at that restaurant was so good. No wonder they won TV Champion. I didn’t do much on Thursday except I had dinner with my dad’s friends and some friends at my fav Italian restaurant, Rossano’s. They have the best lamb chops ever.

Rossano’s dark chocolate lava cake with vanilla ice-cream.

I went to King Power duty free shopping on Friday. I’m going to Vietnam next week so I could shop duty free. Wee! After a few hours of shopping I met up with a friend from Australia, whom I haven’t met for 5 years o.o He has changed so much. We haven’t really kept in touch so there was a lot to talk about. We went to watch Tron. I was so disappointed. I watched Tron because of the soundtrack, which was made by Daft Punk. The movie was shit. It was so boring. I slept for a bit, and I usually never sleep when watching a movie. I was kinda fed up with Italian food but I went to an Italian buffet on Saturday with my mom’s friends and some friends for lunch. Good thing they served small portions of food so I was able to eat a variety of stuff. I went to the dentist on Sunday and went shopping with my mom for the rest of the day and got a ton of stuff :D I haven’t shopped so much since Black Friday.

Swamped

I haven’t posted anything in 2 weeks. I’m literally swamped with work and stuff to do. I have so much hw and reading to do. It’s driving me crazy. I hear ppl outside my dorm just chilling in the afternoon and I’m like wtf don’t you have work? I try to finish my work before dinner so I can just chill or go out : )

Some of my classes are interesting. Out of all the classes my HONORS 209 Death, Self and Society class is the best. It’s very depressing right now since we have to discuss death, watch films circling around the theme of death and various funeral practices. For my first project I have to visit a funeral home and stay at a cemetery for at least 30 mins. My FFC class is also interesting but I don’t really know much about econ since I never took a business or econ class before. Psych is just review. I could just waive it since I already got credit for IB so I’m just taking this course for no credit, which is stupid and pointless but it’s review. The 201 and 202/203 psy class didn’t have the times I wanted. Math 110 is kinda hard since I’ve never learned about limits before but now that we’re moving on the derivatives I’m relieved. Eng 103 is a class where I have to be creative and logical. I like english but it takes a while to finish assignments. Swimming is yeah swimming. I’m having trouble converting yards to meters, or else I don’t know how fast I’m swimming.

First of all, NoMo is the shit! I was so bummed I was assigned here but I love it. You can just open your doors. If you wanna go somewhere you don’t have to take the elevator down or walk down flights of stairs. You just gotta walk outside your room and you’re out already. Plus, there are bunnies around all the time. Some ppl were trying to catch them with the huge shopping cart but those bunnies are smart. There’s a myth that they escaped from the lab. Such a typical story.

Anyhu, my room was a bit empty so I put up a ton of stuff and bought a huge Muse and Fight Club poster. The weird(?) thing is I’m rarely in my room. I’m only here when I wake up, do hw in the afternoon, and sleep. My roommate sleeps super early and I don’t want to wake her up like I always do.

Parties here are SO different from BKK. Ppl there don’t really pregame and you can get into clubs and stuff really easily. Why the fuck do you have to be 21 here? sigh. I wanted to go to Benny Benassi tonight, but it was 21+ and I don’t have a fake ID. If it was 18+ I would totally go. And it’s just friggin $25. So worth it.

Weekends are boring if you don’t have a car. I don’t have a license yet since I just moved here but I’m for sure gonna get one and beg my mom for a car. Ppl were right in saying you definitely need a car. I bought a Deluxe annual pass and I’ve been to Disneyland 4 times in 4 weeks, went to The Block at Orange, the Irvine Spectrum, Mainplace, Century city, and went to watch Scott Pilgrim vs. the World. Hilarious movie.

The food here is so REPETITIVE. Seriously. No wonder collegeprowler.com rated food a C-/C/C+. Same thing everyday. All I eat everyday is sushi, sashimi, soup, salad, fruit, jelly, apple juice, and sometimes a rice bowl/noodles. They say that you should watch out for the Freshman 15. What? Ever since I’ve been here I lost a few lbs. I eat a lot but I just don’t eat pizza, pasta, and burgers. The grilled cheese looks so tempting but I always imagine a huge freshman 15 stamped on it. That’s how much fat is in it.
